After all the lockdowns, lot of Covid variants and travel restrictions, the world finally opened up again in 2022, with in-person classes, holidays, and life as we knew it almost back to pre-pandemic normal.
Following covid, App Strava saw an 122% increase in users completing marathons. Sea moss trended on social media, and menopause finally became more mainstream. But it doesn't stop there, physical and mental wellbeing or self care as some like to call it, is set to be on our lips not just a passing trend.
Mushrooms gained as much interest as CBD and and gut health has featured heavily too. But what's set to boom next?
Sound therapy
This ancient healing practice has been used for centuries across different cultures to both destress and relax. It works by playing low-frequency sounds, which have been linked to brain relaxation (higher frequencies are thought to encourage focus). You can often find group classes in Yoga studios. I have been to a sound bath and quite enjoyed it, although uncomfortable at the begining i defianely had to relax myself into it.
Ayurveda
It was predicted to be a big hit in 2023, but only a few have scratched the surface. What is it?
well the publications suggested it was supposed to be Ayurveda detoxes. A quick google and you'll see all sorts of supplements available. I haven't witnessed a trend but maybe it will show up in January.
I came across the word when researching Indian head massage techniques.
The word “Ayurveda” is derived from Sanskrit and means “science of life.” In Ayurveda, there’s an underlying belief that everything in life is connected. Because of this, general health and wellness rely on achieving balance and harmony.
When a person is imbalanced or stressed, they’re likely to develop disease. Ayurveda focuses on implementing lifestyle interventions and natural treatments, therapies and remedies to provide balance among your physical body, mind, spirit and the world around you.
Ayurveda in medical terms its itself is a system of medicine based on the idea that disease is caused by an imbalance or stress in a person's consciousness. It dates back to an ancient Indian medical system.
Also on the agenda for 2023 is social media detoxes and nature walks for wellness.
