As we lead busy and fast-paced lives, it is important to take some time for ourselves to engage in wellness activities that promote physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing. Here are some creative wellness activities that you can try out:
1. Forest Bathing
This sounds like a great tag line for Instagram but in essence its just a walk. Find a local beauty spot, woods or nature reserve and spend time walking or sitting in nature. I recommend not taking your phone but walking slowly, perhaps turning up a few leaves or looking under some stones. When you can become curious you can become present. The sights, sounds, and smells of tress have been shown to reduce stress levels, lower blood pressure and boost the immune system.
2. Yoga and Meditation
Practice yoga and meditation to connect your mind, body, and soul. Yoga helps to improve flexibility and strength, while meditation aids in reducing stress, anxiety and promoting mindfulness. There are lots of local places in Leeds that offer 7 or 30 day trails for reduced fees. If you feel to apprehensive to join a class then there are plenty online and lots of free videos on youtube.
3. DIY Spa
Create a home spa night with facials, foot baths, hot exfoliating showers or massages. Take a break from the outside world and indulge in some you time. This doesn't have to mean going online a buying an expensive spa bundle. You can make some great treatments at home with things you already have, take a look at some of these ideas;

4. Outdoor Adventures
Try new outdoor activities like hiking or taking the kids to go ape or visiting your local petting zoo. Fresh air, sunshine and being out in nature are proven mood boosters that can reduce anxiety and stress.
5. Arts and Crafts
Engage your creativity by participating in artistic pursuits such as painting, drawing, or knitting. This can improve cognitive abilities and reduce anxiety by focusing on the present moment. We all have cardboard boxes hanging around the house, check out this useful link to adult cardboard crafts
